Allnex commits to local manufacturing in changing supply chain landscape

July 30th, 2026

Allnex Australia – manufacturer of resins, gelcoats and flowcoats for industrial and composite markets, including those used in the manufacture of fibreglass swimming pools – is highlighting the importance of local manufacturing in an era of global supply chain uncertainty.

Allnex recently reinforced their commitment to Australian manufacturing by relocating their essential synthesis laboratory from their manufacturing site in Botany NSW to their Wacol Gelcoat site in Brisbane.

The state-of-the-art facility was established to ensure product supply to the local market in a timely and reliable manner.

The new synthesis lab enables Allnex teams to develop, adapt and refine unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and related thermoset polymer technologies more efficiently and safely.

This allows them to continue to advance and maintain their leading technology position in composites industry and market applications.

Product line manager David Stevenson says that Allnex Australia’s teams continue to invest in local manufacturing to ensure customers have access to the products they need, when they need them.

“From our Wacol site in Brisbane, we manufacture resins, gelcoats and flowcoats that support customers across industries including swimming pools, construction, infrastructure, marine and transportation.

“What makes this particularly significant is the changing global supply landscape. While many suppliers have shifted manufacturing overseas, Allnex remains committed to producing these products locally in Australia,” he says.

“This local presence helps provide customers with greater supply security and reduces dependence on lengthy international supply chains that can be affected by shipping disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties.”

Allnex’s well-known Australian-made brands include Aquaguard, Polyplex, Nutech, Ultratec and Viapal.

“These are formulated and tested with Australian conditions in mind,” he says.

“From intense UV exposure to demanding coastal environments, these products are designed to perform in the real-world conditions our customers face every day.”

The Wacol facility involves a collaborative effort involving commercial, manufacturing and warehouse teams. Together, they have been working on initiatives to further highlight the value of locally manufactured products, including new product packaging identifiers that make it easier for customers to recognise products manufactured in Australia.

“Local manufacturing is more than where a product is made,” says Stevenson.

“It gives our customers confidence that they have a reliable partner close to their business, with the capability to support them when market conditions become challenging. It is something our teams take great pride in every day.”

He says that, as global supply chains continue to face uncertainty, the Australian commitment demonstrates how local manufacturing expertise with global know-how can support customers and strengthen their position in the region.

“This is a good example of how teams across Allnex are working together to deliver consistency, reliability and customer-focussed solutions – while continuing to invest in manufacturing close to the markets we serve.”
